1940's WWII Dinner Gala

World War I and World War II Commemoration Day

A full day of events to honor and memorialize the 100th anniversary of World War I and 75th anniversary of World War II, veterans of those wars, their sacrifices, and contributions of the people at home.

  • Opening ceremony with color guard, ceremonial band, and VIP guest speakers;

  • Educational sessions and discussions with regional historians, including Dahlgren Heritage Foundation;

  • Flyover by WWII planes from The Flying Circus Air Show;

  • Silent Drill, Marine Barracks, Washington, DC

  • Exhibits and displays of world war memorabilia, including a WWII observer plane; military & veteran organizations; entertainment;

  • Book signing The Dark and Lonely Road by Sean Gates;

  • Capping off the day will be a USO-themed gala fundraiser: dinner, swing dance lessons by DanceFXBG, entertainment and dance featuring the 1940s-era Fredericksburg Big Band.

Come join us for this 2-day car show held the third weekend in August.  With music in the background and your choice of food and merchandise vendors, you can spend the day admiring all these beauties.  Town Hill will be packed full of hard-to-believe creations at this long-standing event. The Water Fest is a fun, family-oriented, 2-day event held on the Colonial Beach Boardwalk.

The Water Fest features a bounce house, a water slide, sand and water games and contests, a story teller and if you are lucky, you might even spot a real-live mermaid! So… bring the kids and/or grandkids to the Beach for a titillating good time the last weekend of August!

Colonial Beach Arts and Crafts Show on the Boardwalk

Arts and crafts vendors line both sides of the boardwalk for this beloved Colonial Beach tradition.

Every type and style of arts and crafts is represented at this 2-day event. A shopping destination for home decor, jewelry, wood crafts and any and everything else you could want for yourself or for a special someone.  This event is a regional favorite that is held the first weekend in September every year for over 50 years!

Potomac River Regional Art Show

Our vibrant art community is abuzz every year for the Potomac River Regional Art Show.

The Art Show is co-sponsored by the Colonial Beach Artists Guild and the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce.  It is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays during the month of September and is  held at the Colonial Beach Town Hall. The building is magically transformed from a meeting hall to an Art Gallery where art of all kinds is displayed in the judged show.

The 2nd Annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival will be held Saturday, September 14, from 11 am to 8 pm (Gates open at 10:30 am.) on Town Hill. The event features three musical acts, shag dance lessons, shag dance contest and silent auction to benefit Colonial Beach Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) dedicated to economic, educational, and environmental improvements in and around CBVA, with a focus on quality of life for residents, weekenders, and visitors.

Headlining the event are legendary beach music artists, The Embers and The Rhondels. Opening act is Feature Attraction.

Colonial Beach Bike Fest

This four-day, blow-out motorcycle event is filled with vendors, bands, bike shows, and more.

The streets of downtown Colonial Beach are lined with bikes of every make and model.  The town greets 30,000+ visitors and black leather is the popular fashion statement.   Make your reservations early because our accommodations and restaurants fill up quickly. The Bike Fest is held on Town Hill and on the Boardwalk on the second Thursday – Sunday in October.

Fall Festival and Halloween Golf Cart Parade

A fun-filled, family favorite!  Celebrate the season!

The Fall Festival features food and craft vendors, inflatable slides and bounce houses, a scarecrow making station, arts and crafts, games, a fire pit, music, costume contests and more.  The day is capped off with a very frightening decorated Halloween Golf Cart Parade!  Watch the scary carts drive “the Point” the Saturday before Halloween.

Urban Trail Ride

Horses and their riders traverse six miles through the quaint streets of Colonial Beach, down the boardwalk, and alongside the beautiful Potomac River and Monroe Bay.

The Urban Trail Ride is a fundraiser for the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department.  It is co-sponsored by The Still Hot to Trot Chapter of The Old People’s Riding Club and the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce.  Riders travel past town treasures including  the Riverboat, the Colonial Beach Town Pier, the Alexander Graham Bell House, and around “The Point” to view the picturesque marinas of Monroe Bay.

Rock Fish Tournament

A town settled by watermen, the Fall Rockfish Tournament is classic Colonial Beach.

The Fall Rockfish Tournament is co-sponsored by the Colonial Yacht Club and the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce.  Friday night is the Captains dinner where tournament rules are reviewed.   Saturday and Sunday are for ROCK FISHING!  Huge cash prizes are awarded with a $5,000.00 first place prize.  Youth Division, Ladies Division, and Special Angler Division are awarded trophies.  Come test your fishing skills…win big money…and take dinner home during the second week in November.   The tournament is located at the Colonial Beach Yacht Center

Santa's Wonderland and Winter Festival

Town Hill  is decorated with twinkling lights, Christmas trees, elves, snowmen and everything Christmas!

Santa arrives in his sleigh to lead the parade and is followed by decorated cars and golf carts, floats, and more.  You will have a holly, jolly good time decorating cookies, making holiday arts and crafts, sitting by the fire, listening to Christmas music, shopping and eating at vendor stalls, writing letters to Santa and more!  You can even have your picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.  The grand topper to this event is the Lighted Holiday Boat Parade.  Boats of all sizes sail down the Potomac decked out for the season. Everyone…kids and kids-at-heart… delight in this festive beginning of the holiday season.  Santa’s Wonderland and Winter Festival  is held the first Saturday of December.
